As Tiffany says, the “back and forth nature” of this story is part of its charm. It is faintly reminiscent of William Faulkner’s The Sound and the Fury in that you see the same events and details through different eyes. I enjoyed the focus of the story — it brought back some vivid memories of youthful days at the beach on the other coast (in California).

So real, so sweet. I could picture him setting on that hood. I could almost feel the breeze and smell the country side. Makes me long for those simple pleasures of the senses. Including the first kiss.
